It’s comfortable yet sensual, delicate yet rich. This is the story of GUIZIO, a New York-based brand that encapsulates a lifestyle with depth. It’s also the story of Danielle Guizio, the woman behind it all. From starting in her parents’ basement to now gracing the iconic shopping destination of Soho, the GUIZIO brand continues to expand. We asked Danielle Guizio where she draws her inspiration from.
Q1. Hello. Please introduce yourself briefly.
My name is Danielle Guizio and I’m the owner of a New York based fashion brand called, GUIZIO.
Q2. It has been 10 years since you founded Guizio in 2014. Looking back, what is your most significant memory of running the brand solo?
I’ll never forget the late nights spent working alongside my little brother, when it was just us in my parent’s basement where we started the brand. We would pick and pack all the orders ourselves. Those small moments were so meaningful to me. We had nothing to lose, all I had was a dream to chase after. My brother & I were in it together, ensuring every detail was perfect and every order was fulfilled with love and true care.

Q3. A decade of experience is quite remarkable. As a fashion designer and director, how do you compare yourself now to who you were 10 years ago?
I am all of who I was 10 years ago, yet nothing of who I was 10 years ago. Building this business has changed my life. It’s made me a better person, it’s impacted my sense of self-worth, it’s taught me patience, kindness, resilience, confidence, and above all how to be a better leader, boss, lover, and friend.
Q4. You mentioned being constantly inspired by your parents, who tell you, “Wear what you want, and feel free to express whatever you wish.” Besides your parents, is there anything else that inspires you?
I’m inspired each & every day by all that surrounds me. A few top inspirations to me are: my boyfriend and his creative genius of a sister, Kelly (my best friends). My team inspires me in more ways than they can imagine, traveling, books, film, frequenting at the library, the energy of New York City, my childhood, Tokyo, my friends, food, women, romance, fantasy, reality, love, success, and humankind.
Q5. What are you currently passionate about? What is your biggest interest at the moment?
I feel so lucky and privileged to do what I love every waking day. It’s my biggest excitement waking up each morning knowing I can do it all over again. And all the while, each day is different, some harder than others…I still find so much deep pure joy in my career. It’s absolutely hands down what I’m most passionate about — design, product development & business.

Q6. I’m curious about your daily routine
I wake up at 8:30am / 9am, I shower every single morning, do my skincare, throw on clothes and speed-walk over to our office by 10am / 10:30am. Luckily I’m only a 10 minute walk from my apartment in downtown nyc. I grab a strawberry banana smoothie or iced coffee each morning but other than that, as soon as I arrive at the office it’s go-time.
Q7. What does your work attire look like?
Q8. Following successful collaborations with LEVI’S and REEBOK, which brand would you like to collaborate with in the future?
I would love to collaborate with Miu Miu, UGGs, Apple Emoji, Manolo Blahnik, Agent Provocateur, Rimowa, Marc Jacobs, Dunkin Donuts -- to name a few.

Q9. With 481k followers on Instagram and 231k followers on TikTok, your social media is full of stylish and engaging content. Do you have a unique approach to managing your social media presence?
I feel like a post very authentically but I always have what my consumer or follows wants & needs are in my head. For instance, I know that they are always asking me for business advice, they want to see what's going on behind the scenes of building the brand, and of course next to that their main request is always to see what my skincare products & favorite makeup products are lol. So I always try to gear my contents towards exactly what I know they want to see so we’re steering in the right direction. Almost as If they’re watching a show and you just want to be sure your viewers know you offer consistency
Q10. On your website, the SIGNATURES and CORSETS categories stand out the most. Which signature or corset item are you personally most satisfied with?
I will always have a place in my heart for our best sellers; our Low Rise Paillette Skirt, Micro Mini Stretch Skirt, and Satin Corset. As those items solely changed our business and brought up so much opportunity for growth. As for new corsets, I really am in love with our Chrys Corset & Marini Corset

Q11. How do you define sensuality (sexiness)?
First off, confidence. It’s an appreciation and enjoyment of sensory experiences— touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell—that all evoke emotional responses. Mindfulness and self-awareness. It’s hard to truly define sexiness. It lies within all of us in our own individual ways, and what we find sensual or sexy is interpreted differently for each person.
Q12. What does fashion mean to you?
To me, fashion is an ever-evolving art form and a powerful means of self-expression. It’s a form of communication. It communicates story-telling, ideas, emotions, and confidence. It makes up so much of who we are, whether someone may be fashion forward or not. Fashion is inspiration that keeps the world turning
