Robert Pattinson Style Evolution

Our eternal vampire, Robert Pattinson. He’s been more than just an actor for a while, and it’s safe to say now he’s a full-fledged style icon. Classic suits, experimental silhouettes, effortless streetwear, this man’s fashion evolution hasn’t even reached it’s final form.

Try Keeping Up If You Can

You might not know how much we in Korea anticipated director Bong Joon-ho’s next project after Parasite (2019). A film-maker so obsessed with detail was finally teasing his new film, Mickey 17 (2025) when he dropped another bomb: he’s working with a major Hollywood actor. The speculation went wild with who it could be.

Then came the reveal. Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson.

Director Park Chan-wook said that if you don’t understand why sci-fi films are important, you should go watch Mickey 17. To that, let’s add this: if you want to understand why Robert Pattinson is a bonafide style icon, look no further than his Korea press tour outfits. Please, take another look at the way he owns this Dior Resort 2025 collection.

If you didn’t know, the movie is also a wild ride. Mickey 17 follows Mickey (played by Pattinson, of course), a guy who opens a macaron shop, goes broke, racks up insane debt, and then—because why not—escapes to space. The twist is, I’m not going to tell you. Let’s just say it’s a sci-fi trip, and there’s more than one Pattinson. That should be enough to sell you on it.

Costume design was handled by Catherine George, worked with our director before on Snowpiercer and Okja, and shenailed the whole cassette futurism vibe. Think old-school sci-fi book covers come to life. Goggles, aviator hats, work jumpsuits wrapped in wires, numbers etched into uniforms. Perfect retro-futurism.

From Role to Look

Twilight (2008)

The movie that made Robert Pattinson a household name. A human girl, a vampire boy, an angsty love story for the ages. I don’t think I need to sit here and tell you how big Twilight was. The off-screen romance the actors had only fueled the obsession more, and Pattinson’s ridiculously sharp features didn’t hurt either.

Costume designer Wendy Chuck kept Edward Cullen’s wardrobe ice-cold, blues, whites and grays to match his immortal, frozen existence. But dressing Pattinson was a whole something else. He refused to tuck in his shirts, so they had to shorten every single one. He also had strong opinions on denim, so forget throwing any random jeans on him.

Despite the budget being tight, they agreed to splurge on one item: his Gucci prom suit. And honestly? If you watched the movie, you already know what I’m talking about.

Good Time (2017)

GQ’s Sam Schube summed up Good Time perfectly: In this movie, the clothes make the criminal. The fashion here wasn’t about looking good, it was about setting the tone. No tailored suits, no polished aesthetics. Yet somehow, there’s still an undeniable style.

That’s all thanks to Miyako Bellizzi, the genius behind the costumes. Director Josh Safdie even sent her secret photos of random guys in New York to use as inspiration. Her mission? Make Robert Pattinson, the ultimate heartthrob, look unsexy.

One of the best pieces was surely the orange work jacket. Safdie spotted a guy wearing it at a grocery store and literally followed him to persuade him to give it up (don’t worry, they paid him).

The Devil All the Time (2020)

Robert Pattinson as a corrupt preacher was also terrifyingly good. The Devil All the Time proved once again that he can go full method actor, delivering us a performance so unsettling it made people physically cringe. All while still having a flawless suit game.

A mint-green suit with a ruffled shirt sounds like a fashion nightmare, but Pattinson somehow made it look cool with no effort. Credit goes to Emma Potter, who spent days deep-diving into late ‘50s fashion to get it just right. Her biggest challenge was making the clothes feel authentic rather than like a modernized take on vintage fashion.

For more top-tier Pattinson suit moments, Cosmopolis (2012) is essential viewing. Every piece he wears in it (suit, shirt, tie, belt, shoes) is Gucci.

The Batman (2022)

I don’t know about you, but I always wondered who designed Batman’s suits. It’s different each time with each new actor getting to bring a fresh take on the iconic costume. For Pattinson’s version, the responsibility fell to Glyn Dillon.

As both a costume designer and storyboard artist, Dillon approached the suit with realism in mind. He wanted something that felt practical, less sleek and glossy than past versions and the result was a rugged, heavy-duty suit that looks like it could actually exist in the real world.

The most important upgrade? It was bathroom-friendly. Unlike past Bat-suits that required a team of five plus assistants to remove, this one allowed Pattinson to manage things solo. Real real-world practicality.

The Ultimate Plot Twist: His Off-Duty Looks

For all his red carpet perfection, the real shocker is that Robert Pattinson’s casual style is hilariously different from his on-screen looks. At events, he commands attention like no other, and then the second he steps out in his own clothes he’s the most unbothered, dressed-like-he-grabbed-the-first-thing-he-saw guy ever. Oversized hoodies, worn-out sneakers, mismatched layers, it’s almost like he got dressed in the dark.

Paparazzi shots tell the full story. Sometimes it seems like he’s actively trying to look as normal as possible, which ironically makes him even cooler. His dating history is equally as fascinating, as all of his exes have had strong, unique styles, while somehow his ultra-casual approach never feels out of place.

Robert Pattinson’s fashion journey is a series of constant reinventions, one plot twist after another.

Perhaps this is his secret. The ability to adapt, transform, and embrace change is what makes him more than just an actor and one of our true style icons.
