For her, the big shift happened when she became an adult right as the wide pant trend hit Korea hard. For the 90s babies raised on the blood-flow-stopping skinny jeans of the 2010s, wider legs were a whole new world.
That moment from 2015 is etched in her brain. Her first time walking out of the fitting room wearing wide trousers felt unsafe. Then that shape soon took over her entire wardrobe. Even while working at a denim brand surrounded by every possible cut, her choices always circled back to the same wide fits. And then there’s the wildcard. Editor S, who belongs to Team Set. Her strategy is simple: bundle a top and bottom into a set unit and rotate the entire outfit on a strict schedule. The secret is the spacing. If the gap between wears is long enough, nobody notices the repetition. (be real: people barely remember what they wore yesterday, let alone what you wore.)
Technically, she leans toward Team Bottom, and a quick look at her closet explains why. The tops are mostly plain and basic, while the bottoms are more chaotic. We’re looking at shredded baggy jeans, patch-heavy sweatpants, or micro-shorts.
The pants do the heavy lifting. Adding a busy top to a statement bottom is just asking for a headache.
